A “Reflection Retreat” is a high-impact opportunity for a department, unit or team to get together and reflect upon their strengths and opportunities for improvement in terms of behavior and culture
This retreat is a productive meeting for high stress groups which have a challenging culture characterized by conflict, concerns or complaints. A detailed “Culture Improvement Summary and Action Plan” is provided to senior leadership afterwards.
This is an innovative approach to team building (unlike typical teambuilding which often results in short-term improvement which slowly fades back to baseline ) in which the group has an opportunity to look at their aggregated and deidentified PULSE 360 results and how they compare with national specialty category benchmarked norms.
Conducted Remotely by Videoconference or in Person
The retreat meeting is conducted by PULSE Coach either in person (for larger teams) or by videoconference (for smaller groups under 15) and is customizable, depending on senior executive leadership’s goals and objectives.
What’s Covered?
The Reflection Retreat typically begins with a discussion of the value—and difficulty—of giving and receiving feedback, and how team feedback is essential for improving culture, followed by tools and techniques to both receive feedback more openly as well as to give feedback more constructively to challenging team members.
The team reviews the aggregated and deidentified PULSE 360 findings for their group, compared to national healthcare benchmark norms, specifically addressing their behavioral strengths and opportunities for improvement. Based on the PULSE 360 findings for the group’s developmental needs, the team brainstorms a variety of ways to improve their own professionalism, collaboration, and communication.
A Quick Culture Check is conducted at the beginning of the retreat, and at the end the group brainstorms ways which leadership could support improvement.
For senior leadership: Culture Improvement Plan and Actions Steps Report
A detailed report is prepared outlining the major start and stop developmental themes, specific suggestions to improve each major problematic theme, an high level assessment of the current culture, and what the group is requesting in order to improve the culture.
